Today in class... (day2)

Today in class Mr. Schick read us an essay from 1899. It stated about a man was sent from his boss to send a letter to major Garcia. What was interesting about this task was that no one knew where Garcia was. He was somewhere deep in Cuba. Instead of asking many questions and wondering as any other man would do, he just left. Without any interegating the man left and did what he was told. Later, the author states that people (even back then) are not like that anymore. They make excuses and put things off. He also states that people do not even work together. They rather have someone else do it instead of them. In a time where we need to "send a letter to Garcia" we fail to do such that. People are not as dependent as they used to be. They are lazy and only do what they are told when they are pushed to do it. When a person is asked to do a task, and no one is watching them they will "goof off" and not do the task. Many people strive to find the man who is dependent and will do a task without asking any questions. Most of the population lack this key in responsiblity and choose the easy and lazy path. In the end, the essay is a message to people that they should be dependent and unlazy and just do what they are told without asking questions. They should be dependable to be asked to "send a letter to Garcia"
